Support
The National Conservative Christian Church is a large organization of ministers and clergy men and women across America, as well as a network of chartered ministry centers currently in 27 states. Our purpose is to quietly come along side of people called by God to the ministry of Jesus Christ, to assist and mentor them to become successful and significant ministers in their calling.
What is your calling?
Ephesians 4:11-12 is a frequently referenced passage that states; “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”
Most of the focus of this passage is generally on apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These offices are widely accepted as ministry callings and have generally required ordination or other clergy recognition. These callings should not be diminished, but there is much more that we can understand about ministry if we look a little deeper.
Who does the works of service or ministry?
The verse is actually very clear that it is the saints who do the work of ministry. The apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teaching are called to equip them for the vast array of ministry needs within the body of Christ. Many of these callings also require commissioning, licensing or ordination. This is especially true in our culture that wants a legitimate system of recognition and accountability.
The missionary is a good example of this. Missionaries are not named as one of the five ministers, but for generations they have been sent out with clergy credentials. If we viewed the five callings mentioned in Ephesians four with a little broader perspective the missionary would fall under the evangelism category.
This is not a suggestion that the Sunday school teacher or vacation bible school teachers be ordained. They don’t have the need for this level of credentialing. What about the youth minister, worship leader, pastoral counselor, hospital chaplain, prison chaplain, house church leader, life coach and many others who are called by God and need recognition, accountability and support?
The National Conservative Christian Church believes that many in the body of Christ should be equipped, credentialed, supported and released into the ministry of Jesus Christ.
