Truck Stop Counselor

Trucking is a very large industry in our country.  Most goods sold in America are transported across state lines to reach their market and are carried by truck.  Truckers, some own their rig and others drive as an employee of a freight company, are on the road for many days at a time away from home, sometime for up to two or three weeks.  Mothers or fathers, husbands or wives, who are absent from the home multiple nights at a time usually have problems with normalcy at home.  Often there is distrust of a spouse, or disconnect issues with children.  Also, the career of on-the-road alone also presents challenges of loneliness, idleness, need for companionship, or just plain seduction by the opposite sex.

A truck stop counselor is a person who meets truck drivers at truck stops or rest stops where they have some off-road time of rest and can talk to someone about their feelings.  A driver who covers a consistent route can set up appointments for counseling, and can connect by cell phone on the road.  In some instances a trucking company will pay for counseling of a driver who they believe is a loyal employee. They don’t want to loose the driver to alcohol or home life problems that will take him or her off the road.  The overhead for a truck stop counselor is low because all meetings or appointments are held in the truck stop facilities or in the truck itself.

The National Conservative Christian Church will endorse and provide ordination, licensing or commissioning to adequately and properly trained candidates.
