CONTINUING EDUCATION Preparation and training are important for ministers in any calling, as life around us continues to change. Those courses of study required for credentialing are listed in this booklet and in the brochure. N.C.C.A. member counselors are expected to maintain their clinical membership in the N.C.C.A. in a current status. Since that organization has a continuing education requirement, meeting that requirement will also satisfy the N.C.C.C. annual requirement. Other professional organizations for specific ministerial callings, such as Chaplains agencies or missionary sending agencies, also have their own continuing education requirements, which the N.C.C.C. will honor as meeting our annual expectation. All other credential holders are expected to continue their studies and preparation for the challenges facing us in our future. One Continuing Education course per year will be expected from all credentialed ministers. This shall be equal to six credit hours per year and may be accumulated in advance. They may be chosen from the Small Group Training courses known as N.C.C.C. basic training courses or those equipping a person for temple maintenance counseling. Attending an annual ministers conference of the National Conservative Christian Church and being present at all of the sessions will account for 6 Continuing Ed credits or the equivalent of one course per year. Guidelines for Continuing Education and book reporting are available from the national office. They are intended to make this on-going knowledge acquisition easy and consistent. Teachers and ministers must always be learners, or we stagnate and cannot progress in what God has called to do. The world is in motion and we dare not sit down to watch it go by or we become of less and less value to our sphere of influence. People with problems today are in messes never envisioned a decade ago. For most of us the cultural dilemmas our society has created were never taught in our educational process just 10 to 15 years earlier. Pastors, ministers, teachers and counselors must keep abreast of the unbelievable circumstances people will bring to you for solution. Professionals such as CPAs physicians, bankers, attorneys and computer technicians must constantly maintain their training. So must we. Continuing education is continuing growth in your profession and calling of God. Annual renewal of ministerial credentials is dependent upon the evidence that a member/leader did in fact study one of these courses to allow themselves to grow in their worldview and calling. |
